Walloon soprano Jodie Devos sings at the Quebec Opera

The Opéra de Québec new production Lucie de Lammermoor will feature in the title role — and only female role — the Walloon soprano from Libramont-Chevigny, Jodie Devos. The opera singer is making her Canadian debut here in a mainstream opera.

This opera by Gaetano Donizetti will be performed on October 21, 24, 26 and 28, 2023 at the Grand Théâtre de Québec

Synopsis
In 16th century Scotland, Lucie and Edgard love each other with a love that nothing can destroy, they swear fidelity to each other and secretly exchange rings as a token of fidelity. The hatred that consumes their two clans leads to plots, machinations and betrayal. Thus, convinced of her lover's infidelity, Lucie gives in to pressure from her brother Henri and agrees to marry Sir Arthur. When Edgard finds Lucie married, he curses the day he fell in love with her. Lucie's reason capsizes, as in her baleful vision, blood will flow...

 

Biography
After studying at the Institute of Music and Pedagogy of Namur with Benoît Giaux and Élise Gäbele, Jodie Devos obtained a Master of Art in 2013 at the Royal Academy of Music in London, in the class of Lillian Watson.
